Understanding Your Bill
GMWSD bills residential customers bi-monthly. At the top right of your bill, you’ll find your account number, location number, total amount due, and the due date. Below the due date, you’ll see the total amount due if paid after the 5-day grace period.
The middle section of the bill details the water charge, sewer charge, and service fee. The water charge is billed per 1,000 gallons across three tiers: Tier 1 (0-16,000 gallons), Tier 2 (17,000-50,000 gallons), and Tier 3 (51,000+ gallons). The sewer charge is based on your winter water usage from the previous year. The service fee covers the District’s annual fixed operations and expenses. As a non-profit utility, we do not claim mill levies that would be collected with your property taxes.
Additionally, the bill provides information on billing dates, gallons used, average daily usage (total gallons used divided by total days in the billing period), and usage during the same period last year. If you have signed up for automatic payments, you will see a notice in large red lettering halfway down the bill stating ‘automatic credit card payment or bank draft - do not pay.’
If you see ‘Potential Leak’ in red letters, it indicates a continuous flow of water over a 24-hour period at some point during your billing cycle.
