Green Mountain Water Hires New General Counsel Jo Timmins

The Green Mountain Water and Sanitation District welcomes Attorney Jo Timmins to serves as the District's General Legal Counsel. Ms. Timmins was retained after interviews at the February 12 Board Meeting upon majority vote of the Board of Directors.

Ms. Timmins brings 25 years of experience in a wide variety of practice areas, including local government law, employment law, land use law, and litigation. Her long-term advocacy of local Green Mountain residents was cited by citizens attending the meeting as a key reason why she should be hired.

She prevailed in a case against the City of Lakewood to protect the park by forcing Lakewood to uphold established land use law. She also represented citizens in 2018 in an appeal of a City of Lakewood administrative decision over a controversial high-density project.

Ms. Timmins will be providing day-to-day legal counsel to the Board of the Green Mountain Water District. She will be spending a portion of her time reviewing recent actions regarding an Intergovernmental Agreement between Green Mountain Water and the Rooney Valley Big Sky Metro District.

Ms. Timmins is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. She has been recognized by Denver Magazine as a "Top Lawyer" in the greater Denver area, and is the founder of Colorado Bench Trial Reporter, a legal journal analyzing Colorado State trial court decisions. She welcomes the new position as an opportunity to engage with citizens and listen to the needs of the community.

The Board of Directors extends their warm reception to Ms. Timmins and their sincere gratitude to all the applicants who applied for the position.
