2010 ELECTION INFORMATION
2010 will be an election year for three positions on the Board of Directors for the Green Mountain Water and Sanitation District.
The election for these positions will be held on May 4, 2010
The Board of Directors consists of five residents of the District. To qualify as a Director of a special district (“District “), a person must be an “elector,” defined as a registered voter of Colorado and either:
1. A resident of the district for not less than 30 days,
2. The owner (or spouse of the owner) of taxable real or personal property situated in the District, or
3. A person obligated to pay taxes under a contract to purchase taxable property.
Director qualifications must be met at the time of the execution of the nomination petition (or of appointment by the Board of Directors, if filing a vacancy), and must be maintained in order to remain qualified as a Director. Currently, directors are limited to two consecutive four-year terms of office.
Each of the three open positions on the Board of Directors will be for a four-year term of office. Meetings for the Board of Directors are on the second Tuesday of each month at the District office at 13919 W Utah Avenue, Lakewood, CO 80228 at 6:00 P.M.
Beginning Wednesday, February 3, 2010, interested and qualified applicants may obtain a Self-Nomination form at the District office at 13919 W Utah Avenue, Lakewood, CO 80228 during normal business hours between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Dave Hartkopf, the District Manager, will be the designated election official for the Board member election. Mr. Hartkopf is available to answer any questions pertaining to the election or the requirements of becoming a Board member. Mr. Hartkopf can be reached at 303-985-1581 Ext. 202 or through the District’s e-mail address at gmwsd@greenmountainwater.org. The Self- Nomination Forms will need to be completed and returned to the District office by no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010.
Qualified voters of the District can use the PDF form given above for requesting a mail-in Ballot. Applications will be accepted until the close of business on the Friday immediately preceding the election, April 30th, 2010; except that, if the person wishes to receive the mail-in ballot by mail, the application shall be filed no later than the close of business on the 7th day before the election, April 27th, 2010.
The designated polling place for the 2010 Election will be the District’s main office located at 13919 W Utah Avenue, Lakewood, CO 80228.
The polling place will be open May 4, 2010 for voting 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
