WHEREAS, the Board has determined that following water
restriction guidelines set up by Denver Water for outdoor water usage would be
appropriate for the customers of our District to follow.
THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED THAT EFFECTIVE AS OF
DECEMBER 1, 2007, that outdoor watering will be restricted between the hours of
10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from May 1 through August 31.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 11th day of December 2007.
Each year the District determines watering guidelines and
restrictions for customers of the District. This year, Denver Water’s
guidelines, rules, and regulations for water use have been adopted and will be
used as the guidelines for Green Mountain Water and Sanitation District.Copies of Denver Waters annual Summer
Watering Rules & Tips have mailed to each customer of the District.Information from their annual brochure has
been reproduced here. For further
information on these guidelines and water conservation follow this link to

Denver Water offers a variety of incentives to help
customers conserve — rebates, efficiency contracts and tips on how to use less.
These offers are made available to the customers of Green Mountain Water and
Sanitation District under our Master Meter contract with Denver Water. Another
method Denver Water and our district uses to meet its conservation goals is to
enforce watering rules designed to reduce water waste.
From May 1 to Oct. 1, customers must follow these rules: no
watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., no watering during rain or strong winds
and no watering sidewalks and streets, among other summer watering rules.
Denver Water employs a group of water-use enforcement officers to make sure
customers understand the rules. First-time offenders receive a warning,
second-time offenders receive a $50 fine and third-time offenders receive a
$100 fine. If customers continue to violate the rules, their water service may be
shut off.
There are exceptions, however, like watering for up to 21
days to establish turf from seed or sod. Colorado’s
semi-arid climate means everyone needs to do their part to ensure adequate
water supplies will be available well into the future. Thank you for continuing
to use only what you need.
