Each year Green Mountain Water & Sanitation District schedules Capital Improvement Projects. These projects address areas of the District where we are experiencing a large number of water main breaks, water distribution problems, or maintenance issues.
For 2008, the District will be working in a number of different areas to replace or repair water and sewer main lines.
Riva Ridge Water Main Replacement
The District has previously repaired several water main breaks inside this complex. Corrosion has extensively damaged the water mains in this complex and the water main needs to be replaced with poly-vinyl chloride (p.v.c.) pipe. The District will also be repairing several of the sewer main lines on the south side of the complex.
Sewer Main Rehabilitation
On going video inspection of the District’s sewer main has identified a number of areas where the sewer mains must be repaired.
Location: One of the areas runs along Union Boulevard between Wisconsin Dr. and Arkansas Pl. A slip–lining method will be used to place a new sleeve of fiberglass pipe inside the existing sewer main.
Pressure Reducing Valves
The District is in the process of replacing older pressure reducing valves used to control the water pressure on the mainlines. This involves the construction of a new vault to accommodate the new valves and controls.
Location: The valves will be replaced at:
W. Cedar Dr. and S. Union Blvd.
W. Louisiana at Wright St.
W. Utah Circle at S. Arbutus St.
Please be careful in these areas and watch for equipment moving on and off the streets in these areas. If there are any problems related to these projects please contact the District office. 303-985-1581
